Josip Mijic

The uniqueness of Josip's pieces inspires conversation.
Josip received a doctoral degree in painting from the Academy of Fine Arts in Široki Brijeg in 2017. Under Professor Ante Kajinić, Josip's doctoral thesis, The Role of Dark and the Material in the Visualization of the Transcendental in Sacral Paintings, used two visual elements: the dark and the material. It is part of Josip Mijić's continual and multiannual exploration of the identity of the dark (especially the color black, which is transcendental) and the identity of matter in sacral and contemporary art. 
Josip is a member of the Croatian Association of Visual Artists Split, the Croatian Association of Artists Zagreb, the Bosnia and Herzegovina Association of Visual Artists, and the ALUMNI ALU Association in Široki Brijeg.
