FEMININE STRENGTH: A WOMEN'S SANCTUARY TO FEATURE EXHIBITION CELEBRATING THE FEMININE

A WOMEN'S SANCTUARY TO FEATURE EXHIBITION CELEBRATING THE FEMININE
ELiTY Art is proud to announce its third group exhibition, aptly titled "Feminine Strength," in honor of International Women's Day and Women's History Month.
The exhibition will feature works exclusive to the gallery's collection by six artists: Anne Beatriz, Christian Dittus, Mercedes Guenun, Hayo Sol, Loredana Macovei, and Gavin Mitchell. Their paintings vary in medium and message but are presented in a unique context that connects them, highlighting the strength, pride, resilience, and overall audacity that the feminine embodies. The selection of artists who identify as both female and male serves to illustrate the notion of the feminine being present in anyone, regardless of sex or gender; the feminine as an overarching force that has the power to transform and transgress.
ELiTY Art's tag line, "We Art Differently," encapsulates their ethos. The slogan, "Breaking boundaries and curating art reflecting your ownership and sophistication," speaks to their vision. Co-founder Elvira Malkic shares the inspiration behind the tagline, highlighting its role in promoting an unconventional art approach. She notes, "We started in a hair salon - a boundary-breaking move in the art world."
The exhibition curator, art historian Dora Derado Giljanović, PhD, elaborates: "'Feminine Strength' embodies ELiTY Art's founders' love for beauty and elegance, while not shying away from the feminine as a force that is not to be reckoned with. The fact that the exhibition is hosted in a space that is simultaneously a hair salon and gallery points to two unique aspects of the exhibition. Firstly, you cannot ignore that you are in a hair salon - conventionally a sacred space for women to share and confide in one another. Along the lines of Virginia Woolf's idea that a woman needs a 'Room of One's Own,' this space has become a zone of freedom for artists to express themselves without boundaries. Secondly, the exhibition title was sparked by feminist writer Betty Friedan's seminal work 'The Feminine Mystique,' which advocated for broadening the definition of womanhood and for women to go beyond the confines of domesticity - this includes venturing into the world of art and nurturing their creative side. This may, however, also be applicable to anyone wanting to nurture their artistic and/or feminine side."
'Feminine Strength' brings together artworks that embody various aspects of the Feminine: the beautiful and the ugly; the gentle and the strong. Much like the ELiTY Art gallery itself, it goes beyond boundaries of the Feminine to explore not only what the Feminine means for the artists but also what potential it holds for viewers.
The exhibition is hosted at L'Appartement Hair Boudoir and will be on view from March 8 to March 31, 2024. The exhibition is coordinated by Elvira and Tiffany - the founders of ELiTY Art - and curated by Dora Derado Giljanović.
ELiTY art will be donating 10% of all sales profits of the exhibition to Butterfly Dreamz Inc. (butterflydreamz.org) - a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that helps girls develop into women who achieve their dreams and fill the roles of leadership in this nation and world.
